Test the trial-ended experience (QA short trials)

When you sign up for FocusFlow, you normally get a free trial that lasts many days. That makes it hard to test what happens after a trial ends — paywalls, upgrade prompts, locked features — without waiting it out.

These two special links let you sign up on production with a trial that expires in 1 minute or 5 minutes instead. You sign in with Google exactly like a normal user. No code, database, or special account access needed.

When to use this

  • You want to see the app's behavior the moment a trial expires (upgrade screen, paywall, feature gating).
  • You want to repeat that flow quickly without burning a real multi-day trial.

Steps

  1. Open one of the links above in your normal web browser. Use the same browser you use day to day (Chrome, Safari, etc.) — not a private/incognito window. This opens the FocusFlow download page and quietly remembers your short-trial choice.
  2. Download and install the app from that page if you don't already have it.
  3. Open the app and sign in with Google. Sign-in opens a page in that same browser, which is what carries your short-trial choice into the new account. Pick your Google account and finish as usual.
  4. You're now in the app with a short trial. Your Premium trial will expire in 1 or 5 minutes depending on the link you used.
  5. Wait for the trial to end, then use the app (or restart it) to see the trial-ended experience — upgrade prompts, paywalls, and locked features.

Important notes

  • Use the same browser for the link and for signing in. The short-trial choice is stored in that browser. If you click the link in one browser but the app signs you in through a different browser (or a private window), you'll get a normal-length trial instead.
  • It only works for a brand-new account. The short trial applies to a fresh sign-up that hasn't started a trial yet. If you sign in with a Google account that already has a FocusFlow workspace, its trial won't be shortened. Use a Google account that hasn't been used with FocusFlow before.
  • It's safe. The worst that can happen is that your own fresh trial becomes shorter. The link cannot extend access, unlock paid features for free, or change anyone else's account.
  • The email you use doesn't matter. You don't need a special address or a +tag alias — any Google account works.

Troubleshooting

  • My trial wasn't shortened. You most likely signed in with an account that already existed, or the app opened sign-in in a different browser than the one where you clicked the link. Start over with the link in your default browser and a fresh Google account.
  • I want to test again. Use a different fresh Google account, or ask a developer to reset your existing workspace's trial.
